Parents Visa Rejected 1st attempt : Delhi consulate

My parents appeared for the interview on 24th Nov 2004. My father is retired Govt officer and mother a housewife.

the consular officer asked questions as
1. How many children do u have in India
Ans : one daughter and a grand daughter

she asked for visit purpose and saw the property documents. Also asked for pension and other sources of income
My father carried with him the documents for the house he owns and bank statement. Pension is Rs xxxx and Rs yyyy from house rent income.

She rejected the visa and specified
1. You do not fulfill the criteria of the visa issuance for tourism
2, Do not have strong financial background (although i have submitted my bank statements > 25k US $)
3. Possible immigrant to take a job in US.

1. how can i take a second appointment date. Is this from the same TT servcies normal appointment that has scheduled dates for 42 days wait time or can those who have already appeared can reappear sooner.
2. what is the process of getting Senator / congressmans' letter. I am in GA Atlanta and do not know whom to approach
3. Is there anything different that i need to submit this time for visa approval.

One more thing... my fathers' surname is different then mine. Actually this is because my father has a family surname (Gotra) and I use caste name. Will this be a problem ?, since at visa office they encircled the surname of my father, after might be looking to my name.

1. You will have to take normal route. There is no provision for sooner appointment for second timer.
2. Don't worry about it. There is no clear evidence that it is of any help.

Did the Consular Officer ask any questions that led him/ her

to believe that the purpose of the visit would be for baby-sitting?

They have not asked this question directly...
Just asked abt Purpose of the trip :
Ans : Tourism and to spend some time with my son

Another thing I am confused is abt Financial status of the parents...why they are rejected because of this

also why they specified that parents will become potential working once theytcome here

How to provide answers and documentations for these questions for second interview.

The only ties that my father has back to india is he have one married daughter and 80 yr aged old father who lives with us. Truely my grandfather is tottaly dependent on u sand while coming for interiew he has to be dependent on neighbors.can this be useful to specify

Yes, fact about grandfather would be useful. However, think of how he will be taken care of while your parents are away for long time. That question may be asked.

I don't think different surname thing would be any problem.

Many people in South India use father's name instead of last name, and therefore last name is different for many people. And in your case, it happens to be 2 different surnames(gotra, caste etc.) It does not really matter.

The complication I seem to have is

In my passport

I have
Myname : aaaaa bbbbb
fathers name : cccccc bbbbbb

but in my fathers passport
Name : cccccc dddddd

So while issuing my passport my fathers' surname was made same as mine by mistake. And he has a diffrrent surname in his passport.

will this create a issue in next attempt of visa clearance. Do i need to correct this error or a affidavit specifying the Gotra name ands surnames will suffice.

During their visa interview, the gatemen when he checked the interview letter and some documents circled my fathers' name and my parents feared that because of this they got rejected.

doers the Visitors' financial earning / backing necessary ?
