  • Visitor Visa Income Tax Info for Farmers

    Hi all,
I have a question regarding Visitor Visa. My husband is on H1B and I am on H4. We are sponsoring my parents to come to usa to visit us. Now the situation is , my parents own agricultural land and this is their means of imcome. But as you know, in India Farmers are exempted from Income Tax. So they don't have any tax return slips etc. They have receipts of quarterly crop selling (sugarcane crop sold to sugar mills) and a house in the city on their name.
Can someone please suggest what documents they need to show in order to establish the fact that they are earning enough for themselves and have sufficient financial reason to go back to India.
Has someone faced a similar situation? Please any advice will be greatly appriciated.
    Eagerly awaiting for any responses.
    Thanks.
    Seema

          Visitor Visa Info for Farmers

          Hi

I have a question regarding Visitor Visa. I am staying in form last 2 years on Tier 2(ICT). I have applied tourist visa for my In law's but got rejected. My Father in law is Farmer and mother in law is house wife.

          They mentioned following details:
          1. You indicate that you have been self employed farmer since 1975 with total monthly income of rs 14460 and in support of you application, you presented your bank statement with the state bank of india showing a closing balnce of rs.354,656 on 31.01.2016., however the entries on this statement are highly inconsistent with the amount of income you claim to receive from your self employment.
          2. It is also not clear what the sources of the large sums showm on your statements are.
          3. If you are farmer and receiving income from agriculture then you are running a business and would have overheads like any busniess. you would have original and verifiable copies of crop receipts, labour and electricity charges, fertiliser, pesticides, agriculture chemicals, seeds to pay for. Farm machinery would have to be rented or bought tractor maintained and fueled. None of this has been shown in your application.

could you please help me how to show all these things documented. and also they can't show labour and rented Farm machinery and tractor maintainence. Please let me know they need Income tax. please help me on this.

          Thanks,
          Swapnali

Its better to have them sponsor the trip on their own (self financing). You can provide I134 (affidavit of support), but that doesn't legally bound you to pay for their visit, hence it is not much of the use, but just provide a reason for the visit to meet you.

No, your mother won't need property documents as long as they both are applying for the visa together.

Usually consular are literate in all local languages, but you can get them translated in English & optionally notarized them.

The US embassy does not care for notarized documents; That Indian documents are susceptible to fraud and forgery.. for a few thousand rupees.. is a well publicized fact.

Visa officers make decisions based on face to face interviews to judge intent; being honest and straightforward at the interview counts more than a stack of useless documents.
