  • Financial info for spouse who is not working/earning

    Hi,
My mother will be applying for a visitor visa and there are questions related to applicant's financial information. My mother has always been a housewife and has no income on her own. So should she mention income/assets of my father?

    Thanks....

She should mention only her income/assets.

    If no income, write 0.

Thanks, Immihelp for your prompt response... I believe that the USCIS asks for this information is to see Financials assets of the applicant. I guess it is one of their ways to see if the applicant will return back to his/her home country.

Now by showing zero income, would that not be considered a negative factor?

If I am not mistaken, income is different from assets, right? She may not have a steady income but she can and must definitely have assets of one kind or the other.
I think she can definitely mention any of the joint accounts which she shares with any other family member and the value of all her jewelry. If there is a house/any property in her name she can definitely mention that.
