Invitation letter question

Hello,

My friend in Ghana asked me to write her an invitation letter to the US. She will stay with her brother here and he will pay all her expenses, but they me to write that she will stay with me and I will bear all her expenses because her brother is only a green-card holder and not a citizen and he says it is too complicated for him to invite her. I cannot host her or bear her expenses and don't think it's a good idea to lie in an official letter because I don't want to get in trouble with the law. What should I do?

There is no reason a green card holder can not invite his relatives.

Inviting someone does not mean simply writing a letter. You are agreeing to take care of their expenses and everything. It is called sponsoring. If you are not willing to do that, don't do it.
