Here is my experience:
I got rejected today. I applied and got interviewed at the US Embassy in Tel Aviv. The interview lasted less than a minute and the officer did not even look at me once. This is what I put on my DS-160...
- 21 years old
- Travel to Los Angeles, California for 8 days
- Worked for the same job for 5 months earning $2,000/month
- My whole family is here
- I take a course once a week
- I plan on studying psychology for my BS
C: Passport, please.
Me: *Hands over passport*
C: Why do you want to visit the USA?
Me: I want to visit California for 8 days
C: Do you still live with your parents?
Me: Yes.
C: What did you do in the military? (2-year mandatory service)
Me: I got out of the military early for "this and that reason"
C: Are you studying?
Me: No.
C: Do you have plans to study?
Me: I don't know, maybe sometime next year.
C: Sorry your visa is denied.
Recap: I kind of understand what I did wrong here but is there any way I could have answered better? What should I put in the paragraph when I checkmark that I have been denied? He didn't seem too happy and only looked at his computer nor did he request any documents. We never made eye contact. He also advised me to reapply when I start studying. Any advice would be appreciated a lot. Thank you in advance.
P.S. Would having a relative who works at the US embassy and knows the visa officers help in approval? I was thinking he could email his boss and then his boss and he would tell the visa officers to look into more for when I next reapply.
