Is it okay if I reapply for visa when I don't have immediate plans to travel to US?

Soon after returning from the US (crazy trip. Stayed there for almost 5 months during which I went on road trips etc), I lost my passport with a valid b1/b2 visa. I immediately applied for a new passport and just thought I should reapply for a US visa since the first one was for 10 years and I think it's always good to have the visa on hand. I made some very good friends on my last trip there and I might go back some day but I'm not sure when.


Question is, does it make sense to apply now? Or will the vo strangle me for wasting his time? I have a lot of free time at the moment which I can't guarantee will be the case if I eventually get married or something.

Do you have police report for your lost passport/visa. Do you have scanned copy/photocopy of your earlier visa?

If you have those documents, then you can apply for visa now.

Yikes! sorry, I know how jarring multiple posts can be. I thought I had deleted this one before posting a cleaner version.

And thanks a whole lot for your assistance! I do have the police report but I do not have a copy of the visa.
