  • DS-160 help with B2 visa application

    Hi All,

I am 35 years, single female, currently on PR in Canada for 1.5 years and work as a software engineer.

I am applying for the B2 tourist visa to USA and need some help with below questions/queries:

    1. I do not plan to stay with friends or relatives (though I have some) should that be fine or is it required to put some relative detail in the application.

    2. I have a relative of my sister in-law who are citizen in USA, can I provide their detail just to be safe with the application.

    3. Do I need to book any flight or vacation packages if I am travelling alone. What level of details or knowledge is needed during the interview process.

    4. Being single or working in IT can have any implications on the application.

    5. Is there any duration to keep in mind for visit to USA, I am planning to go for Christmas or New Year for 2 weeks approximately, should that be fine or it should be less duration.

Kindly help me with the above and any other things I should keep in mind while making the application.

What are the chances of getting visa with the above profile. Any comments.

    Regards.

Just put a name of friend/relative, you necessarily doesn't need to stay with them once your visa is approved.

    Certainly.

USCIS clearly mentions to NOT book any flight / hotels, until your visa is approved.

Probably, but your Canada PR would be a plus.

Better to keep it shorter for first visit.

Maybe I will put one week stay. How about if I get the visa will it be for 10 years/multiple entry or until my Indian passport expires?

Also, how precise the roles and duties of employment should be. Only college details in the Eduction section is enough or should we give all schooling information as well?

Q: Do you have any other relatives in the United States? : Is this for relatives other than the one mentioned in US point of contact information or including them?

Most probably, if your visa is approved, then you'll get 10 yrs multiple entry visa only. And you can continue to make later visits for longer.

Its important, they wanna know, if your knowledge of any subject can be a threat to their country. So explain in detail about that.

Here the relative means your immediate relative like, parents, real brother/sister or kids of you. Rest all are secondary (uncle, cousin etc) & need not to mention.

          Hi,

You seem to have a good chance since you have Canadian PR. However, you might want to be very specific about your travel plans. The consular would want to know when are you expecting to travel, where would you stay, what places do you intend to visit (you need to have knowledge about the places you would want to visit). So plan up all the details you might be asked.

I applied for F2 in May this year and got a rejection. My wife is studying in Florida i planned to visit her for two weeks. The consular asked me just three questions and rejected. Now i am planing to re-apply on B2. I hope B2 has more chances.
