Visitor Visa - travel

Hi,

My nephew is travelling with my on a tourist visa,

1. should there be any kind of letter shown for his entry to US at the immigration by his single parent (mother?)
2. would they ask for seperation docs?

If he has VISA already then it should not be a problem but yes a letter will be a good thing to have.
