  • Previous B1/B2 Visa and planning for Facility US Visit

    Hi Experts,

Though my questions might be answered earlier need your guidance as I'm new here.

I, Spouse and 2 children (below 12) are planning US Visit soon.

I already have a USA B1/B2 Visa from my previous work (business visitor), and it expires in Sep 2022, below are my questions based on teh situation
    1. I'm planning to re-apply B1/B2 using DS-160 again along with the other 3 members of the family, is that a good idea or will my visa application be rejected as I already have a visa earlier or is it not an issue at all?
    2. What documents do I need for the visitor visa for me and my family in general for the tourist visitor visa? I have some relatives in USA but I might or might not visit them at all and same is the case with our stay.

    TIA

You already have a valid visa, why do you want to renew it now? If they found any issue with your family's application, there is a slight possibility that they cancel your existing visa as well.

I would not risk my existing valid visa by doing so. Let your family apply alone for their visa & take a photocopy of your visa along for interview.

Proof of ties to home country is all what they need for their interview.

Thanks for your response Libra_14, the reason for planning to renew my B1/B2 visa was that when I initially applied for it, it was citing business travel so not really sure on how it impacts if I travel to US as a Trourism Visitor, or does it not matter at all as the visa given has B1/B2 in the VisaType/Class in it?

Also, when applying visa for my spouse and children, can I book an interview slot first or do I need to fully submit the DS-160 before coming to payment and interview slot checking?

      Thanks again. much appreciated.

You have B1/B2 visa, so you can use it for Tourism as well.

You just need to have a DS160 number, you can book appointment without submitting DS160.
