  • Documents required for each parent

Based on the immihelp page, tourist visa requires applicants to show strong ties to home country by means of:

    1. Property documents.
    2. Bank documents.

    etc.

My question is, if my parents are applying for a tourist visa together, do each of them need to show these documents in their individual names? That is do both parents need these documents with their names on it? Or is it sufficient if these documents are only in my dad's name and we show their marriage certificate as proof?

    Thanks,

No, they can share the saving/property etc. Plan to have them attend the interview together.

      Thanks!

      1. So that means their marriage certificate is required, correct? The immihelp page says that marriage certificate is not required for visitor visa. https://www.immihelp.com/usa-visitor...tor-documents/ ("Birth Certificate or Marriage certificate of adult applicants is not required")

      2. Are any other proof required other than marriage certificates? Like their wedding photos etc? The reason I am asking is, wouldn't the VO want to ensure that the parents are indeed married, to avoid fraud? The property documents are in name of only one person. So strong ties to India are established only for that person. In that case, I would assume they need solid proof that the applicants are indeed married. Correct?

Officially its not required, but I won't risk my visa just because I don't have certain paper in my hand.

So better to get it, 90% chances that VO won't ask for it - but who knowns if your parents are in that remaining 10%.

For parents, no wedding photos etc won't be required. As long as they can prove that they are your parents & they both are married it should be sufficient.

Usually only young couple does that fraud (contract marriage) by obtaining a dependent visa & then stay in USA for long term, hence VO ask for wedding album to ensure that they really had wedding ceremony in presence of their parents & all local rituals are followed.
