I am very happy to tell that my parents got their visitor visa approved yesterday. We will get to know if its a 10 year or 6 months visa when they collect their passports.
I thank immihelp and people who contributed in the forums, a lot. I asked my parents to check out the website and all the forums. They did and it really helped them and gave them lot of confidence.
The following were the questions asked.
I had booked the appointment in tamil fearing that my parents might not understand american accent. My parents are fluent in English, but I was not sure if they can converse fluently with the VO in English. There was no translator as the visa officer himself spoke tamil fluently. But my parents told that he speaks English very slowly and they could very well understand. Actually he started talking in tamil and when he realized that my parents can comfortably talk in English, he spoke in English too. Thats when my parents figured he doesnt speak real fast.
VO - Vanakkam (Namaste)
Parents - Vanakkam
VO to dad - What do you do?
Dad - Retired **** ***
VO to dad - Do you get pension?
Dad - Yes
VO to Mom - Are you working?
Mom - I am a housewife
VO to Mom - how many children do you have?
Mom - 2 daughters. One lives in Chennai and the other one in NewYork
VO to Dad - Do you have property in India?
Dad - Yes, property details
Dad was about to take property documents from his holder and give it to the VO. But the VO said no thats ok and he said we will courier your passports.
I am relieved now.
All the best folks..
Love
