  • US B2 Visa

    Hi,

I would like to invite my sister and family (Husband and 2 children) to US on B2 visa to my place. They are going to bear their own expenses.

Since i am not sponsoring, Do i need to send 'Letter to consulate and Invitation letter ' documents ?

what are the documents that i need to send them from my end and also to carry documents from their end during B2 Visa interview ?

Sponsoring & inviting are two different things. If the purpose of their visit is to meet you, then its better to send them invitation letters (they can still self sponsor their visit).

They might need to prove the VO that you are in USA & maintaining a valid status, so copy of your passport, visa, address proof, bank statement or payslip etc.

I am planning to invite my sister and her husband as well.
Sister is currently in Australia doing her masters, Brother in law has a full-time job. (Both Indian citizens living in Australia)

        1. How much bank balance are they planning to show for the visa interview?
        2. Did they book a visa appointment? Should we also schedule a biometric appointment?

Should we compare notes on what documentation is needed?

          1. For a visitor visa to the US, an invitation letter is not required and often times ignored by the consulate. So, save yourself the trouble and don't spend time to write a letter (but you can if you want to). There's no minimum bank balance requirement. Officers generally don't want to see statements unless they feel you don't have sufficient funds for the trip. But again, it rarely gets to this point.
          2. you make an appointment. Biometrics is done at the same day
          --Good luck--
Good luck. I learned the hard way, I hope you don't have to. Immigration is interesting. Not considered as legal advice.
