  • Tourist Visa when unemployed

    Hi,
I am a medical professional and I haven't been working for more than 10 yrs. I want to travel to the US but I am not looking for a job in US.
I have enough money to travel and can provide bank statements as proof that I can fund my travel. What I cannot produce is an employment certificate or pay slip.
I also don't have any of my own business to show as self employed.
Is it possible to get a visa in my situation?
I should I also mention that I am a single lady, so I cannot produce spouse pay slip or parent pay slip.

How would you prove that you are not going to look for a job once you are in USA?

Proof of saving would help.Employment certificate is not a required document, but it shows your ties & also shows that you'll return to your home country.

    Not required either.

How do you think I should prove that? I don't know.
As a Doctor I cannot practice in the US without clearing the license exams. And those who write those exams don't apply for tourist visa. They apply for student/work visa.
But of course I can only explain this to the interviewer once I get an interview. But I am worried my application might get rejected before the interview process.

Why do you think the chances are 50-50? What can I do to increase my chances?

You can only prove that, by showing strong ties to your home country.

No, there is no rejection before interview.

Based on what you mentioned, you do not show strong ties to home country - No proof of continuous income.
