  • DS-160 Form - Work Experience - Spouse

    Dear All ,

I am applying US Visitor Visa for my spouse and daughter . Right now we are in Toronto. We are planning to schedule interview in Toronto US consulate.

While filling the DS 160 form, I got some questions. Presently , my spouse and daughter are staying with me and my spouse is having Work permit in Canada. Back home she is working in IT organisation and she came to Toronto on a LWP (Leave without Pay) where there is no SALARY for her at present.

Having Said this, what we need to select for the question in DS 160 which ask for PRIMARY OCCUPATION? She is still employed and her payroll is active in her company but she is now on Leave without pay.

If we mention HOME MAKER will it be appropriate at this point of time ? (OR) do we need to mention like she is in job ? If I mention her present experience then will they expect SALARY SLIP from her during VISA interview ? She might end up explaining this to Visa officer ? Any suggestion pls ?

    thanks

She is still employed, so you should mention her IT job & show her as working. I guess the LWP is not for long time (i.e. an year or two).

Ok thanks - When they ask for Salary slip at the time of interview. Can we say that she is right now in LWP so can I share the last payslip from September 2019 (that is her last working month) ?

Also I have another question, do we need to select B1/B2 for the VISA in the DS 160 or we need to select only B2 ? If I select B1/B2 will they ask any official document at the time of interview ?

          Yes.

If she is applying for purely tourist purpose you should apply for B2 visa only. Eventually she might get B1/B2, but you should not request for B1.
