  • Harvard elective

Hey,I am a medical student from cairo,Egypt.in my final year.

I plan to do a one month elective "clinical training" at harvard university.

Many other schools helpin getting student visa for the electives,
But Harvard stated clearly that "They dont help at getting student visa,u r encouraged to enter usa as a Tourist"

Now,u repeatedly said that we shouldnt lie to the visa officer,Should I tell him that i m doing an elective at harvard and they said get a tourist visa, and show him a print out of the Harvard website stating that?

I am not a "prospective student", I already have papers proving that i go to medical school here.

notice that i will not have gotten the approval letter from harvard by the time of my interview...

Or should I just say that i'm a normal tourist tand that my intentions are purely recreational..

    Please help me.
    Thanks a lot

Just tell the truth the way it is.

Tell the consulate what Harvard people told you and tell why you want to go to the U.S. truthfully.

Most likely, they already know the procedures at Harvard as it is so well known university.

      thanks for ur answer,

but I still dont have an acceptance letter from harvard.

on paper ,it's still only an intention to go to the elective..

I read at ur site that dual intentions is bad thing.

You can tell the truth that you are waiting for the approval letter. Meanwhile, take the print out from their web site regarding their standard procedure. Dual intention is bad thing, but in this case, you are telling your real intention upfront and therefore there is no dual intention.

Alternatively, you can wait until you get the approval letter.
