DS 160 - Online Photo, Is it required?

Hello...I'm filling up DS 160 form online to invite my in-laws. So far, they have sent me photo couple of times and I tried uploading in the website, it keeps telling "Head size or position not correct". I don't know how to proceed further. Is uploading the photo mandatory? Can I fill up all other details and take the confirmation page, and they can paste the photo in the confirmation page? They are appearing for interview in Chennai consulate.
