  • Parents interview appt scheduled for May US Embassy cancelled appts due to COVID-19

I have scheduled my parents visa interview for mid May. However now that US Embassy in India has cancelled all appts because of Coronavirus what do you suggest ?
    (1) Do I keep the appointment hoping they will reopen the appointments and then my parents can go as per plan for the May mid appt.
    (2) or do I have to cancel and wait for them to open appointments again so that i can schedule a new appointment
    (3) If they donot open until May mid then what happens if I donot cancel the Mid May appointment? Do i LOSE all the money I paid and have to resubmit the application. How DO i avoid having to resubmit the application and re-pay the fees ?

    please clarify.

    thanks

Yes, keep it, they haven't cancelled May appointments yet.

No, your money will be safe.

I received Email from us travel docs that my parent's May mid appointments are cancelled already by them . As of Mar 16 they have cancelled all future appointments.
But weird thing is when I goto appointment history on their website, it shows my parents visa interview appointments are cancelled but their previous day VAC appointments for Fingerprinting are not cancelled. So do I have to manually cancel the VAC appointments ?

Probably cancel the VAC. Those are held separate from the actual visa interviews. And you cannot do them too soon before your next visa appointment. So, it's best to cancel the VAC. Also, your fee is safe for 12 months and can be used to take another interview within 12 months.

Good luck. I learned the hard way, I hope you don't have to. Immigration is interesting. Not considered as legal advice.
