Visa fees

Hello,

I am aware that visa fees have to be paid at a designated HDFC bank. My question is:
Can it be a designated HDFC bank at any location or does it need to be the same as the consulate. For ex: if my father is applying from Delhi, can he pay the fees at a designated calcutta HDFC bank?

I have heard conflicting views hence need a clarification.

It can be any designated HDFC bank within the same consulate, not from different consulate jurisdiction.

It is not strictly prohibited by law, but there are people who have reported problems in the past.
