  • Reapplying for B2 in India?

    Hello,
I am an Indian national but working and residing in UAE since 7 months. I want to visit my brother who is in USA since 3 years on a H1B visa. I applied for B2 visa at the American Embassy in UAE, but was rejected. The consular officer told me that I do not have sufficient ties to the UAE, as I have been residing here for only 7 months. She said I should reapply when I have spent some more time in my job in UAE. I wanted to know whether I should try applying again for the B2 visa from India? Would that make my chances any better? Also, while applying the last time I was sponsoring my trip myself. Would it be better if I get a sponsorship letter from my brother the next time I apply for the visa?

It might be best if you apply from UAE after you have spent at least 2 years there.

If you apply now from India, you may be rejected again saying that you don't have ties to India because you are working in UAE.

If you can take care of the expenses yourself, that is good. Otherwise, get sponsorship papers from your brother.
