is Income tax return required during interview even if salary falls below tax limit?

Hi,
My relative have B2 Visa interview at Chennai, India next week. His salary falls below tax slab limit(1.6L) so no tax is payable and its not required to file tax return. I want to know, will interview office ask for tax return? and if yes, can we just say that there is no tax payable so there is no tax return? Can he just show Form 16 in that case? Did anyone face similar situation?

If he is not legally required to file tax returns, he does not have to show them.
