  • Questions on I-134

    Hi,
I have a few questions on I-134 form, section 7,

    1. Can we include mutual funds also for this question ?It also mentions a list. What is the format of the list? What should be in the list?
I have stocks and bonds with the following market value, as indicated on the attached list
Which I certify to be true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief

    2. What is a cash surrender value? which is part of the following question,
I have a life insurance in the sum of With a cash surrender value of

    3. If we do not have a dollar value for a line item (such as I do not have other personal property or I do not have life insurance etc) in the section, what should we write in there? Should put a value of 0 or write none or N/A or just leave blank?

Thank you very much for your responses

    Here's a few hints...

    1. Do mention the total value of your mutual funds. List can be of any format.
The basic idea is that they need to be convinced that you do have enough assets to cover any financial needs that may arise when your visitors are here.
    2. The cash surrender value would be applicable only to certain life insurance products like Whole Life policies. Not policies like Term Life or Group Life. If you have whole life, you probably get a statement every 3 months or so. Just look up the cash surrender value in that.
    3. You could leave the line blank. Or type in N/A. I don't think it matters.

The bottom line is that you would need to show savings or cashable assets of about $5K for each person you intend to sponsor.
