  • Father permanent resident of NZ

    Hi
    Another question I had:
My father isappearing for tourist visa. He is retired, but has permanent residency in NZ which is stamped on his passport. Will this positively or negatively influence the visa officer's decision to grant him a visa in any way? Should he declare his permanent residency in NZ at the time of his US visa interview? Any advice gratefully acknowledged and appreciated
    many thanks

First, if it is in his passport, will they not notice it?

Second, it can be to their advantage. Consider this but I got this 2nd hand from a friend.

His parents, living in India, wanted to visit a central European country. They had all the requisite documents, etc. Nonetheless, they were asked to wait for a week or so to process their paperwork with no assurance of approval.

Time they did not have. Naturally, they wondered what could be done to speed things up. The VO then asked if they had visas from any other countries. The parents pointed out to their 10 Yr ME visa to the US.

Lo behold, their visa was issued and stamped in less than 30 mins.

Take what you will from this.
