Visitor Visa NOT expired - Going for renewal

Hi, my dad got one year visa while my mom got 10 year.

Their visit of 6 months is currently underway and will go back in Oct.

Since my dad visa is expiring in Feb 2011, can he go for renewal in November since we will be there to take care of documentation.

From Immihelp FAQ's found that he can he go for renewal at anytime, but my question is has anyone done that? and do you see any complications with it?
