H4 Visa

Hello,

I am currently in US on F1 visa. The person I plan to marry is on H1-B visa. So, by law I will have H4 visa status upon marrying him. But his company is planning to file for his green card in a year. Once he gets his green card what status will I be on? Also, how long does it take for your green card to arrive once his company has applied for it? Looking forward to your response.

-You're eligible to apply for H4. but not by law, you'll automatically get H4 status. You can continue on whatever status you're in.
-Green card takes about 5-10 years, based on country of birth.
-He can add you as spouse at the third stage of green card process, so that you both get it same time.
