I travelled to the USA on a 5-year B1/B2 Visa for one week last year. As I am planning to revisit in few weeks, I discovered something that made me very worried and anxious: "Special Registration". It all started when I wondered about the FIN# hand-written above my visa stamp. It lead me do some research and recall the following:
When I arrived at the airport, the lady at the inspection looked at my passport and asked me about 1) purpose of visit and 2) if it was my first time to US. When I said it was indeed my first she tol me to go to the immigration office whereby I filled a basic form. The guy there took a picture of me along with my finerprints (on a machine). He told me I need to pass by the immigration office upon departure.
On the day of departure, I went to the airport. On the airline counter everyone around was submitting their I-94 forms. I told the employee there not to tear the I-94 form off my passport coz I needed to pass by immigration. He look at me puzzled and gave me back the passport with the form.
After I crossed the security checks, I found myself near the airline departure gate. I was confused. My friend started telling me that I has to submit my I-94 form earlier. I headed to the airline counter at the boarding gate and explained my issue to the lady there. She took the I-94 form, smiled and said everything is okay!!
Everything went normally and it never occured to me that I had missed anything since: 1) the check I had at entry seemed ordinary 2)I never heard of "Special Registration" procedures 3) my accompanying friend did not pass through a similar case.
As I planning to re-enter the US the thought of being denied and deported terrifies me!! What shall I do? Please help.
P.S. Sorry for long message but I felt I needed to mention all details.
Thanks.
