Hi all,
My parents are planning to apply for a B2 visa for the first time from Delhi. My mom is a small business owner and dad took early retirement due to medical issues about 10 years ago. Their household income is not much (~5L/year) and limited liquid assets, but have a couple of properties in India.
1. In this circumstance, should they self-sponsor or should I act as their sponsor? Is there an advisable amount to show as liquid funds if they self-sponsor?
2. If I act as their sponsor and list my name under "person paying for the trip" in the DS-160 form, does it hurt or help their case?
3. If I act as their sponsor, do I need to send I-134 form? Or is it sufficient to send invite letter + financial support documents (W2s, salary slips, bank docs etc.)? I read that I-134 is not really applicable for non-immigrant visas anyway.
Thanks!
