B2 Visa Extension Rejection

Hi,
I had filed for B2 Visa extension for my in-laws.We filed for extension Feb 22,2021. Their I-94 expired on Mar 18, 2021. However, We got the rejection notice today (Mar 24,2021) due to Incorrect Payment fee. We got a green paper slip attached with the rejection notice. We are wondering if it is possible for us to re-file their extension or would it be considered unlawful stay at this point ?

There is no appeal process for a simple visitor extension (and if there were it wouldn't be worth it). Immediately means now. She received a departure order, and if she doesn't leave within 30 days of notice it will become an exclusion order, which has more severe consequences.
