B2 Visitor Visa

My mother-in-law has personal appearance next week and my L1B visa is valid only till March 7th 2005. I have applied for my extension but havent got the receipt yet. Is it advisable to go for the interview without my extension receipt notice or should I postpone the personal appearance?
