Hi,
My mom is a single mother and I'm the only child.
I invited my mother for a short visit to USA. Unfortunately her visa got rejected in the US Consulate - Chennai under 214(b). My mother is a retired vernacular teacher, pensioner and owns property in her name. We also have an apartment in my name and she's the care taker.
The only two question VO asked her was number of children and marital status and straighway they rejected her visa.
My mother only wants to visit me for few weeks and has to intention to stay in USA.
My questions:
1. though it is technically possible to re-apply anytime...when would it be appropriate to reapply?
2. In reality there is no change in her situation, we just would like to re-appeal to the consular officer that the property that we have in India and the fact that my mom is a pensioner requires her to return back to India and live there. Are these reasons acceptable by the consular officer as strong ties in India? Any other advices to prove the ties back to her home country.
3. My mom has very close relatives like sister, brother, nieces and nephews. One of her nephew was under her guardianship for the past 25 years. The only proof is that he is in the Indian Ration card. Any thoughts on how to present these ties to the officer?
Thanks for your help!
