Hi,
There will not be any restrictions to travel on B visa while Immigrant petition is pending. But, you will need to have a valid reason to travel and duration of trip.. And you will have to proof that, you will be having only temporary period of stay and intention to return back soon..
Because, finding wrong Answers by Officers may cause your Immigrant petition.
Thanks

Ticket checker doesn't care. When they arrive in the US, the standard question is the purpose of the visit and how long you intend to stay. Any indication that you do not intend to leave on a defintie schedule can result in denial of admission (and as rkk09 tried to say as he got cut off, affect your green card application).

My dad could not renew his B2 visa on expiry in June 2020, because of the pandemic restrictions in India. Therefore I filed the I130 petition - (Consular Processing) in Texas in Dec 2020, which is still pending. The latest Case status is "we are actively reviewing your case..". Nothing happened after 19 months against 11.5 months.
My Dad said the Consulates will resume nonimmigrant visa processing soon.
Seeking your suggestion on whether he can apply for renewal of his expired B2 visa. We like him to join us for Christmas and Newyear. Will the pending I130 petition will be an impediment to the renewal of B2?. We don't have any intention of AOS if I130 is approved while he is in the US and he will return to India and wait to get the GC processed at the Consulate. Please advise whether there is any violation of the visa rules if he applies for a B2 renewal when I-130 is still pending.

I applied B2 visa for my wife in Nov 2020 by submitting a D160 form along with the fee and waiting for Interview slots since then( from HYBD). I heard recently that you can schedule an interview at any consulate not necessarily in the HYBD consulate (still not operational), is that true?? Does anybody do that on your own thru online or approached consultancy guys to do it??
My main question was does my DS160 submitted form expire after 1 year? if so how I can renew it with the same fee I paid?? My gut feeling is once a DS160 is submitted it won't expire as your fee is linked with that form, what do u say ?? Please correct me if I am wrong, second thing refers to any good consultancy to schedule an interview for y wife as she is getting into a depression since it's been a long time since she saw her son, so any help in this issue is helpful.

Hello
You can definitely book interview appointment for your wife in any other City if you are getting interview slots. For eg. You can book OFC appointment in Hyderabad and Visa interview appointment in Chennai / Mumbai / Delhi etc. For this, at the time of booking your appointment, you will see a drop down for both OFC and then for the Consulate interview, you just need to change City from the drop down to check available slots and book the same. No need to go through any Consultant
Please note that you are allowed to change your appointment date only 4 times on the Fee receipt you have.
Also, as per the latest guidelines I read on the US visa site that the fees you paid is valid till Sep 2023 so DS160 and fees will be applicable till then. Your DS160 form will be valid till any information you provided in it has not changed. In case between now and your appointment date if there is any change in the data you filled in your DS160 form, you can either try to edit the same or else submit a new DS160 form and carry both old and new form for your interview. This will have no impact on the fees you have already paid
