Visitor Visa - appointment

Hi,

I have 2 questions:

1. I am inviting my parents to USA on visitor visa. In order for them to take an appointment for the interview at Mumbai consulate, do they need to submit the documents (visitor's docs. and sponsor's documents both) or they can take the appointment prior to submission of the documents?

2. What is the likely time for which interview can be scheduled if we apply for the appointment today at mumbai consulate ?
