  • parents tourist visa

My parents are planning a visit to SF from india in Late Nov/Early Dec and planning to stay until may 2022. They have a 10 year tourist visa valid until june 2022. With the current covid restrictions, I read that all non immigrant travels to usa from india has been banned unless they do a 14 day quarantine period. ( https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-...tional-travel/ )

Will they need to extend the tourist visa beyond june 2022 if they plan to stay only until may 2022? Any info on that would be great.

    Thanks!

Parents are still eligible to apply for Visitor visas. Existing permanent Parent visa arrangements are not affected by the introduction of the Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa. However, a parent cannot apply for a permanent Parent visa while holding a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa.

If they only plan on staying through the visa expiration (June 2022), no action is needed
they can apply for a renewal once they return to their country after visiting the USA

Thank you for your response. Do my parents need to get an nie exception approval ? They have already taken 2 doses of the covid vaccine and are ready to take the pcr test before traveling.

        Thank you

They plan on visiting the US for pleasure.
You already stated that they plan on coming once the restrictions are lifted, so NIE would not apply.
They should always carry proof of vaccination, but PCR requirement may be updated / not necessary in the future,
. You’ll have to cross this bridge when the restrictions are lifted to understand latest requirements.
