Parents visting twice in a year

Hi,

My parents visited us last year in Oct 2009 and stayed for 6 months and left in March 2010. They want to visit us again this Nov 2010. Is that okay?. There is a 6 month gap in between and I read online that should be enough for them to not face any issue at port of entry.
But I recently heard from some friends that the officials have become more strict on this issue and want to have a min of 1 year gap between two visits.
Is that true? Has some new rules come into action regarding this?

Please advise?
