  • B2 visa for my parents and brother to attend my wedding

    Hello everyone,

Hope you are doing well. I need some advice.

My wedding is in December and I will like my parents and my young brother to attend. I became a US citizen a year ago.
My parents have visited me twice before for my graduations so I believe it will be easy for them to get a visa ( then I was a green card holder).

However, this time they will apply with my younger brother. My sister and her husband will apply separately, they have stable jobs so I am not worried for them. But I am worried for my brother. He is 22 years old and a student in a neighboring country where he is studying at an expensive school on a student visa. He has been denied student visa to the US two times about 4 years ago before he decided to study somewhere else. By the time of the interview he will only have 9 months left to complete his degree. So he will definitely go back after the wedding.

The reason we want him to apply with my parents is because he does not stand a chance if he applies alone. We hope that the fact that my parents have previously had a tourist visa will help. And that me being a citizen could also be a bonus. But all my family will be applying and I will like to know what we can do to ensure that he also gets the visa. His strong ties are his school and a property that my father has in his name.
My father owns a company he can sponsor my brother and mom. I also have a good job and a property and can sponsor if that is better.
Is there anything we can improve or do differently? I will love for my entire family to be here on my special day. It should be too much to ask isn't it?

    Thanks in advance!

any experienced CO will see through the charade of 'applying together' to try and fool the CO....your brother is an adult, and will be evaluated on the strength (or weakness) of his own situation, not those of your parents. Sponsoring does not exist for B2 applicants...period. Your situation does not bestow some unusual or unique status upon your brother. You can do nothing to 'ensure' that someone gets a visa....you have no role to play whatsoever. You cannot control the actions of your brother if he were to be admitted to the US, so your statement that 'he will definitely go back' is meaningless. You have NO legal authority over your brother. If he decided to stay or found the 'love of his life' ten minutes after picking up his baggage, what could you do about it?
Lots of young people abandon their studies to remain in the US, so just the mere alleged fact that he has 9 months to go is no guarantee of visa issuance.

I understand. Thank you for your reply.

We will remove him from the group and let him apply separately then.

he will be interviewed separately because he is an adult.
