  • Changing Visa Class after submitting DS -160 form ?

.I have filled a DS160 on August 30 to apply for the Business Visa B1 to supervise a Bearing installation in Portland schedule for October 3rd 2021.However ,I was unable to get appointment date closest to the above date and booked for 16 July 2022 slot.I tired getting an expedite appointment but couldn't get it .I have paid the fees and submitted the DS -160 form with company details as company was paying for the travel.

    My Query -

Can I resubmit a new DS-160 for B2 Visa instead B1 as the inspection will be over by the time I go for an appointment and the company letter will become invalid ?

I have already paid the fees;hence don't want to lose the money.

Thanks in advance for the reply.

does not matter...quite often, if approved, a person would be issued a B1/B2...sounds like this installation will go on without your help....which then begs the question as to why you were supposedly needed in the first place....BTW...in what country were the bearings made?

Answer: Just curious to check, since your purpose of visit under B1 got over, now what is the purpose you want to apply again under B2. Please note, you must have valid reason to apply any visas.
It is not matter that you paid visa fees and need to utilize them. If you have valid reason to apply B2 visa then Yes, you can move forward.
      Thanks.

Hey, thanks for the reply .I have moved to Canada last year as a Permanent Resident and joined this company here in Burligton, Ontario.Bearings are manufactured here in Canada facility
I do have C1D visa but that wont work for US travel as I am not working on ships anymore

I was assigned on this job because other specialist are already assigned to other cruise ship projects and I was the last only one available .

Thanks for your reply, I have received a mail from the US consulate in Canada that I can stick to my original application, but I have to inform the Visa officer that my travel plans have changed.
I would probably go with the company letter in addition to the old one that I am employed as a tech specialist and visit US clients ,and that my travel will be paid by the company.

Please advice if its ok to go with or should I request any other document from my company ? I may get assigned to other project in the US near to my interview date which I believe would make my case easy as I will get a letter from the US client as well for the visit.
