F-1 expired, I-20 valid - does this affect visa sponsorship?

Hi,

My wife and I are on F-2 and F-1 visa. Our Visas have expired but the I-20 is still valid for the next 6 months. So our stay in US is legal as a student and dependent. My in-laws would be appearing for visitor visa in the next couple of weeks. Wondering if our expired visa affect our in-laws visa appearance?

It will not matter.
Technically you are not sponsoring their Visa, all you are doing is providing a reason for their trip and possibly funding for their trip.
