Sponsoring my Father-in-Law

We wanted to sponsor my father-in-law to come to US in Oct 2010 for a period of 3 months. I am on L1 , it expired in on Sep14,2010 but I have a Valid I-94 till Mar1,2011.My Visa extension process is initiated.

1) Is that a problem if my visa expired even though I-94 is valid ?
2) The Sponsor documents we sent are 6 months old including the Bank statements and Salary slips...Is that fine or the documents should be as recent as possible?

Please help as he has an interview in Oct first week.
