  • Parents Visa Papers - Please Help

    Hi,
My parents are attending chennai consulate Feb 2nd week. My father is retired and works as visiting professor for private medical college.
    1) Should he disclose that he's a doctor(indian medicine)?
    2) He's getting a letter from the college that he's on leave and expected back after x months. Will this be ok or any details needed here?
    3) In my Passport Father's name has a "Sri" attached but in my Father's Passport its normal. Will a notary stating Sri is an honorary word and that
Sri xx is same as xx will do or any specific form or format or affidavit?
    4) Should they disclose that my wife is pregnant(if asked) or say we are not aware?
    5) Am I missing any important stuff apart from papers -
    I sent:
    -I-134(Notarized)
    -Bank Statement
    -Last year's W2 and 4 pay stubs
    -Company letter
-My invitation letter to parents and to the consulate
-My passport(with I-94),I-129,Copy of Social Security Card
    My parents side:
    -House papers
    -Above mentioned letters?

        1. It does not matter. Disclose if asked.
        2. OK.
        3. Take affidavit.

          Parents got visa

My parents got 5yr visa! in first attempt. We're lucky I guess.Thank God!! Questions they were asked and response:
          1) How long is ur son in US? almost 5 yrs
          2) Why you want to visit? Visit our son and tourism and this is good time to visit (Summer)
          3) how many kids and where do they live, what do they do? Daughter in US, one son in india, one in Aus,etc.,
          4) Why going to son why not daughter? Because she is daughter and we like to visit our son first, etc.,
          5) What do you do? Retired and Work as visiting professor..
          6) How much u earn? Rs.xx
          7) What will your other son do? He works at xxxx in hyderabad
          8) Why you kept him with you?
          9) If possible, will u send him to US? Yes and its upto him to decide

(He went in for a min and came back in between during the interview) and asked them to pay the fee..
*More than any thing else it really is LUCK that plays a bigger role in getting visa I guess.
***Pray well and attend the interview..
*Try not putting 6mths of intended stay in US
          * Explain you have to come back after x months to india anyway to continue what u were doing

Thanks to immihelp for their comprehensive info. Also I'm visiting insurance page on immihelp for travel insurance
          Good luck!
