  • Advice needed on applying for parent's visitor visa

    Hi,
My Mom's visitor visa application was rejected twice (once on March 2003 and once in May 2003).
    My queries are :
    1. I read on this website somewhere that she need *NOT* wait for two years to re-apply. Is that true ? Is there a link on INS website that confirms the same ? Last thing I want is for them to travel all the way to Mumbai to find out that they cannot apply before May 2005 ( 2 years from the last refusal).
Can someone please point me to an official INS document that is related to the above situation ?

    2. My Mom's visa was refused on both times with the reason 214(b) [ not enough docs to prove that she will return to her home country).
How should she proceed in this scenario ? They did not even look into any documents she took with her.
In her first appearance, she was asked : What does your husband do ?
In her second appearance, she was asked : What circumstances are changed since the last time you applied ?
So, if she applies now, would she be her approach ? Any ideas ?

    3. Is there any advantage in using a 'visa consultant' or a 'interpreter' ?

Any inputs would be much appreciated.
    Thanks..

      Hi,
      Thanks for your reply.

      1. Can you point me to a link within uscis.gov webpage which talks about the change in policy about visitor visa re-application within 2 years from the time it was denied twice ?
I tried for hours but could not find the link. I want to be *absolutely sure* on this.

      2. Can an applicant decide what documents to attach with the visa application ?
The Visa Facilitation Services guys ( www.visa-services.com ) through whom one is required to apply to Mumbai consulate, did *not* take the documents that establish econimic ties of my Mom to India like :
      - House ownership document
      - Letter from Bank about Bank balance etc.

What to do in such scenarios where these 'middle agencies' do not take all the submitted documents and the consular officer does not even give a chance for my Mom to present the documents ?

      Thanks...

        1. We collect information from many sources, including sources that are not publicly available.

We are unable to spend time to record the source of each and every information that is presented on this website.

However, we still did it this time and you can see at
        https://visa-services.com/faqs.html#3

        2. VFS will not take it. You have to show it to consular. If they are not willing to see, there is nothing you can do.
