I am wondering if by virtue of the fact my British mother, now deceased, was born in India whether or not I would have any other rights to a visa or application of a long term stay with an eventual goal of buying propert in India. I currently reside in the US but hold a British passport. She was born in 1913 in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand State, registered birth in Kanpur.

This area is for people looking for information on visas to visit the US. For India visa and other information see: https://www.immihelp.com/forum/india-passport-visa-oci.
But to answer the question, depends on what year your mother was born. If she was born in India before 1987, then she is an Indian citizen by birth. After that time, it would be required that one of her parents was an Indian citizen at the time she was born.
If your mother was an Indian citizen, and you were not born there, you could have gotten Indian citizenship if your birth had been registered at the time. You don't get any other special consideration now that you are an adult.
