if a person is from northern ireland and has a british and irish passport are they tracked as one or seperate passports?

As far as I know, there is no such thing as British passport. It is United Kingdom(UK) passport.

And northern ireland is part of UK.
Ireland is a separate country.

Therefore, if you have a UK passport and Ireland passport, those are 2 different things.

This is to the best of my understanding. But I could be wrong as we deal with only US immigation.
