  • Which visa to choose

Apologize for my english in advance
I am going to take short training (7 days) and later will take exam in US, no other country can provide me this training, as I have been thoroughly check each and every web

    The plan is:

    Short training for a week
    Examination

and possible short sightseeing in US 3-4 days

Is B1/B2 is the correct visa for me? because I heard about J1 visa as well

    thank you

B1 visa is what you want (B1/B2 if you intend to do touristy things in addition to the course). You most likely do not qualify for J1. J1 visitors need to already be scholars looking to do complementary studies in the US. It's more involved than what you are trying for anyhow.

To study in the US, you need a student visa (F or M). After entering on a visiting (B) visa or through the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), foreign nationals are not permitted to pursue further education, with the exception of leisurely (non-credit) study as part of a visit.

Is this information current now in 2023?

Based on the information you provided, a B1/B2 visa seems like a suitable option for you. This visa is typically used for temporary visits to the United States for tourism or business purposes, which seems to align with your plans for short training, examination, and possible sightseeing.

On the other hand, a J1 visa is designed for individuals participating in work-and-study-based exchange programs, such as research scholars, professors, and students. It is possible that the J1 visa may be applicable to your situation if your training program falls under this category, but you would need to confirm this with the program organizers and the US embassy or consulate in your home country.

In any case, it is important to carefully review the eligibility criteria and requirements for both types of visas and choose the one that best fits your situation. It may also be helpful to consult with a qualified immigration attorney or the appropriate embassy or consulate for guidance on the visa application process.

This friend is very right, I also took this contest and it was much harder than I thought. I just passed the second time.
