Do I need to get US visa if I'm just using a connection flight from the US

I'm planning to go to Ecuador this August and I'm currently in the UK. Flights from the UK to Ecuador has a stop in the US and then it takes to Ecuador so i know i need a visa as i need to pass US immigration to get on my connecting flight. So it would help me if any of you guys tell me what sort of visa i need and the requirements cause i called the US embassy here and it is a computerized voice omegle mail so it's no help they tell me to go to uk.usembassy.gov . I'm an Indian and i have an Indian passport. xender

You must have a transit (C-1) visa as India is not eligible for the VWP.
