Is transiting a valid reason to apply for a B1/B2 visa ?

I know the visa for transiting is the transit visa, but since it is the same price, might as well apply for B1/B2 right ? Since it can be used for transiting and it's multiple entry and valid for 10 years

Maybe I might visit the US during long weekends, but it's not sure yet
