UK citizen to US to work

Hello,

I am a US born citizen and have a UK friend who would like to visit the US for a year. He is 28, does not have any "outstanding qualifications" or degrees for employment but would like to work while here and wants to do so legally. He has been working in construction and is considering attending a US technical school and/or looking to be an intern or an apprentice for a construction/building company..

From my initial research it seems that it is very difficult to acquire the appropriate Visa (whichever that is) as a UK citizen. Can you please
offer some advice/insight to this dilemma and make suggestions for how to best be able to give him the opportunity to visit this country?

He can't get work visa like that and he can't work in the U.S.

He can come to the U.S. as a tourist to visit the country.
