  • Tourist Visa for US citizens

My teenager who is a US citizen has a tourist visa to India issued few years ago and it is still valid. The US passport that this tourist visa was stamped on has expired and he has new US passport. He would be travelling with me to India. I read on Indian Embassy site that currently valid paper tourist visas have been restored and they are good to use. If I carry with me both the expired US passport with valid visa stamping and the currently valid US passport, would that be enough?
Without knowing the recent update on long duration (10 years) tourist visas, I recently applied for eVisa and I heard back from the agency on the update on restoration. I requested them to cancel my eVisa application since it was redundant and have not heard back on the cancellation. Status on their site is not updated and it is 3+ days. I am not expecting the refund of application fee but just the status.
Should I assume that eVisa application is cancelled?
BTW, I tried to get in touch with the agency via email/phone, no luck.
    Suggestions appreciated.
