My father is currently working in the US on L1 visa and would like to visit him as I am over 21 years old and will get a tourist visa. My question is: my passport expires in 11 months and I want to apply for a tourist visa, is there a validity limit to apply for a visa? My concern is that it will take me about 6 months to get a new passport and then I will be able to apply for an interview at the embassy which takes about 6 months in my country, and my father will be working abroad for just 10 more months, so I think I should apply with my current passport but I'm worried that the fact that it expires soon could jeopardize my visa issuance.

The limit is 6 months before expiry of your passport you can get visa & can travel to USA.
Assuming your passport is expiring in June 2023, you can use that passport to get visa & travel before Dec 2022.- I am not an Attorney, hence not giving any legal advice. Just sharing MY opinion with an intent to help others.
