Visa extension- Dropbox kochi

My in laws 1st visa was done in 2010. We are planning to extend their visa. They are Dropbox eligible. How long does it take? Is the Dropbox open ? Someone told us kochi is not open and will open in sept.
please let me know if anyone has gone through this recently.

It is not extension. It is B2 visa renewal with interview waiver
1. First, fill in DS160 Application form from ceac website.
2.Create one profile( for both as family in one profile) on cgifederal site.
3.Pay visa application fee at prescribed bank/Neft.
4. Fee receipt number gets updated
5. Select Chennai as VAC.Kochi comes under Chennai). Select drop box appontment slot.
6.Take Appointment printout.
This is the prcedure to get dropbox appointment and applicable if you are eligible.

If you are already (I guess after 2015) ten-printed, then you don't need to go, otherwise you'll need to submit your biometrics.
