  • PLEASE HELP! overstayed, wanting to travel domestically

my i-94 expired last november 17 but i'm still here in the u.s because my mom who is a permanent resident doesn't want me to go back to my home country, we are still waiting for the approval of our i-130 petition which would probably take 2 or more years.

i am planning to go to new york for a brief vacation this coming April and i was wondering if there's a risk of getting caught by the DHS or INS, and will they find out that i have overstayed if i travel domestically (by plane)? (I only have 5 days for the whole vacation so i can't travel by bus because it will take 20 hours to get to New York, and another 20 to get back to Indiana where i currently reside.)

So do you think it's okay for me to travel? Will they ask me questions about my Arrival in the U.s or will they look for my i-94 when checking-in? (my only valid form of identification is my Passport)

    PLEASE HELP!

What kind of ID do you have?

Do you have drivers' license from US? If yes, you just need to show that to airline people.

Else, you just have to show passport to them. They don't check any visa/I-94 for domestic travel.

i don't have a driver's license because i don't have a SSN. so my passport would be fine then? i just had to ask because i don't know if they're more strict right now after 9/11 when it comes to domestic travel.

      thanks a lot!

          fine

they only look at your photo for id when flying domestic. According to all the informationl packages if you have paperwork bring processed and you have copies of the paperwork you sent in then you are allowed to be in the country until your petition has been accepted or denied.

"Country / Region of residence Passenger" while flying domestic

            Hi,

I am planning to fly domestic (within USA).

I have valid Indian passport with valid L1 visa.
I do not have any Id proof by US govt (State Id or Driving license etc..)

In American Airlines reservation form there is a section "Country / Region of residence Passenger" .

Which country should I fill in this field : India or USA ?

            Please suggest
