visa rejected- lied in the interview

Hi,

Recently, my father attended visitor visa interview and it was rejected . The reason the visa got rejected is that, he was really tensed and could not answer questions correctly...the interviewer asked him, if his wife( my mom) has visa. My father answered it as No even though my mom has visa just because he thought they might ask him to show my mom's visa papers etc which my father did not get them to the interview.The interviewer checked the records immediately and found that my mom has visa.
Then the interviewer asked my father about why my mom is not travelling to USA.. My father panicked and told him that my mom is not feeling well and thats the reason she is not travelling to USA. Then the interviewer told straight away that my dad is lying ....and rejected the visa.
My father did not lie intensionally, he was really panicked and did not know what to answer and how to answer in that moment.
Could anyone suggest me, when can my dad again attend the visa? And since he lied in the interview, will it effect his next interview again even though if he answers everything correctly next time?.

Please suggest me.

All I suggest is that you apply again, and tell everything truthfully. There is no reason to try to manipulate the answers or situation, as you are going to fail in that for sure. Think about it, you go there for visa once in a while, while the officer is doing this the whole day, every day. They know what they are doing and they also know all the tricks people try to play.
